First Annual Mother Earth News Fair at Seven Springs Resort, PA
Smoother and I attended the first annual Mother Earth News Fair at Seven Springs Resort in Pennsylvania this past weekend and we had a great time.
We attended workshops and seminars with subjects ranging from raising heritage chickens and turkeys to green building, alternative energy, SPIN farming, sustainable beekeeping and organic gardening. Crowded and semi-unorganized, this fair was still very educational and interesting. Not to mention the "people watching" factor was about a 9.
Our weekend started off Saturday morning with helping a couple ladies in a camp next to ours with some car trouble. Turns out she has a blog about modern homesteading and she only lives about 45 minutes from us. Smoother swapped his battery for hers, and allowed them to get to the parts store for a new one and then to the show.
I think the fair had a better than expected turnout, as most of the seminars had a long line to enter, if you could even get a spot. Of course, we wanted to go to the one titled "home meat processing" but unfortunately the speaker was called away on emergency and his two talks were cancelled.
Smoother and I parted ways for most of the show, sort of a divide and conquer approach and while I was off learning about sustainable agriculture and green fuel choices, he and Smoother Jr. were practicing tattoo removal with fiberglass children's slides as seen in this video:
